Is Your Landscape Established?

Some people may be wondering “My landscape is dry and it was installed last fall. Should it be established?”

Typically it would be established, but we had a long, cold winter for Florida. Last year on November 1, 2010, we had a harsh cold front move through.  In addition, we had temperatures in the low 40’s multiple times. We even had a few good freezes after that. It looks like everything became dormant early last year and is now trying to reestablish itself. We are telling everyone to keep the new material alive. This may mean needing to hand-water your landscape or run your irrigation more.

So the answer is “yes”, to “it should have been established”. But could also be “no” since it probably did not have time.
